Today we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the birth of Frank Vincent Zappa with two interesting tributes., Starting with East Riccardo Tanki Fassi Band. public not original works of this genius because I simply can not select the best among so very good material in his repertoire. It would also be very difficult to make this choice without resorting to subjectivity. On the other hand, I do want to pay tribute to this great icon of good music, so we go with the first tribute of the day: big band Riccardo Fassi Tankian.
Although most of the disk is full of hardworking jazz arrangements and incredible saxophone solos, this great big ensemble pollutes their music with some doses of the twentieth century classical music. Likewise, Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue retains the rarity of keyboards and synthesizers zappiana version.
