Hoping not to disappoint my colleagues, much less the followers of this space, I dare to share with you all this material that, again, is a little out of Jazz
. John Paul Jones
is best known for being part of the legendary band Led Zeppelin
. after the dissolution of the group, through the death of their drummer,
John Bonham, the remaining members of the group went their separate ways and some musical collaborations.
John Paul did not see much activity until 1985, when he did the soundtrack for the film Scream For Help
. In 1994 he released an album very sui generis
collaboration with the singer Diamanda Galás
called The Sporting Life
.
It was not until 1999 that
Jones released his first album in soliatrio, surrounding himself with musicians of the stature of
Trey Gunn (King Crimson
, KTU, TU ....),
Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers
)
Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello
) and Denny
Fongheiser . Zooma
is an instrumental album in which the former bassist of
Lead Zeppelin, gives example of the excellent musician who is leaving the "anonymity" in which he lived with
Led Zep.
The sound of the material is a mixture of Hard Rock and Progressive
all this spiced with a dash of classic sound Zeppeliniano
, which the same John Paul Jones
helped create. All cuts are recommended but my suggestion would be
Zooma and Grind. In the latter, listen to the solo Trey Gunn
in his ever-faithful
Warr Guitar.
An album that I hope does not disappoint.
